+2% chance to hit, +1 to damage with hammers

*** Your skill with Dodge has increased to level (2) Just keep rolling just keep rolling

+2% chance to dodge

Seg grinned like a fool at the level-up notification and accessed his character sheet. He was pleased with his progress so far and was built for more physical activities. That was both really good and really not to him. On the one hand, he always liked working with his hands. On the other, his parents had taught him that his mental stats also needed to be minded, since they increased his ability to learn. He could just hear his mother now.

“You have to focus your mind, not just your big hands. I don’t care that you want to be a smith. If you’re not smart enough to learn things, you won’t be a very good smith, will you?” She was right, of course, and in hindsight, was trying to support his smithing career in her own way. It was hard not to see it as manipulation to overemphasize learning so that he could become a merchant, but it was what it was. And it was done from a place of love. Probably.

The trouble was, he REALLY wanted to increase his physical stats for the fights to come.

“This is my life, not just the next few weeks. Long-term gains, Seg, think long-term gains. What’s going to do the best for me in the long run?” He studied the sheet for a few more minutes, then chose. Two into wisdom, two into dexterity, and two into constitution. More health, better-rounded mental stats, and more finesse when using his weapons or working the forge. It was a highly balanced, unspecialized build, but he liked balance. Once again, he saved his skill point. He knew they would all probably go to smithing eventually, but there wasn’t much point dumping them in now at so low a level.

He approved the stat changes and groaned as he felt his skin prickle again with the changes. It wasn’t severe, just uncomfortable. Though he imagined if he dumped all six into one stat at once, that would be wildly unpleasant.
